すべてを支える、縁。
Tatami edging — known in Japanese as tatami heri —
is a woven textile that has lined the edges of tatami mats for centuries.
Strong, precise, and quietly beautiful,
it was made to hold, not to be held.
Every fold committed.
Every edge certain.
It does not yield — and neither does the work.
At en 縁,
this enduring material finds its way into everyday life —
quietly wrapping the things we carry close.

It began in a tearoom in Shimane.
At the end of a tea ceremony — a book cover, quietly waiting,
made from tatami edging,
a material I had always known, without ever truly seeing.
Years in Australia and New Zealand changed the way I see.
Distance revealed what had always been there.
en 縁 was born from that quiet noticing.
島根の茶室で、お茶をいただいた最後に出会った、
畳縁のブックカバー。
ずっとそこにあったものが、
その日初めて、見えた。
オーストラリアとニュージーランドでの暮らしを経て、
遠くから見てはじめて、その美しさに気づく。
